The Ombudsman has given the Mmbelwa district council 30 days to offer a written apology to Thorpson Mngomo for unfair treatment.
It is reported that Thorpson was offered employment as an assistant environmental health officer in 2020 only to rescind the decision on the basis that he did not have the required qualifications.
Ombudsman Grace Malera has also faulted the council for offering Mngomo the post of agriculture extension development officer as a means of addressing its own inefficiencies and maladministration saying this is against principles of recruitment in the public service.
This follows investigations the Ombudsman conducted following complaints from Mngomo that he was treated unfairly by the council after attending walk in interviews in 2020.
Meanwhile spokesperson for the Mmbelwa District Council Joel Phiri has asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
