Police at Lumbadzi in Lilongwe have on December 21,2023 arrested five Ethiopians for illegal entry and two Malawians for trafficking in persons.
They have all been arrested at Kamuzu International Airport Junction along Lilongwe – Kasungu M1 road whilst traveling in a Toyota Sienta motor vehicle registration number PE 5978 after they failed to produce their traveling documents which allow them to enter into the country, thereby prompting police officers to effect their arrest.
They will all appear before the court soon to answer charges of illegal entry and trafficking in persons respectively.
The five Ethiopians are; Abi Tarakagn, 25, Tamsgen Abiyeneh, Saimu Dasaign, all aged 25, Dilayehu Bekele and Abisshi Chamiso, all aged 18 while the two Malawians are Lovemore Imedi, 40 and Chimwemwe Alufandika, 23, both from Kalonga Village in Traditional authority Mponda in Mangochi District.
