Christmas has come early for two elderly women in Chitipa following a donation of assorted items to them by a local organization; Youth for Relief, Education and Development (YORED).
The organization’s Secretary, Peter Chidule told Zodiak Online that the donation is part of Christmas celebration and is also one of the objectives of the organization.
Chidule said YORED plans to extend the gesture by among others reaching out to as many vulnerable people and the elderly as possible with relief items in order to make the world a better place for them as well.
One of the beneficiaries, gogo Ellen Nalungwe from Manse 1 village, expressed gratitude for the donation saying it will help her alleviate some challenges she has been facing including lack of food.
Some of the donated items include 20kg bag of maize, 1 litre cooking oil, 25 packets of soya pieces, 10 packets of salt, 12 pieces of soap and K10,000 cash, given to each beneficiary.
