Police In Kasungu is keeping in custody a 29 year-old man for suspecting him that for allegedly assault his friend to death.
Spokesperson for Kasungu Police Joseph Kachikho, has identified the suspect as Yamikani Mlotha and the deceased as Paul Banda aged 28.
According to Kachikho, on Tuesday 26 December 2023 the two picked a quarell which led to a fight on their way back from a drinking joint at Mphungu Trading Center in the district.
Kachikho explains that Mlatho took a hoe and hacked Banda (the deceased) in the head several times.
Banda’s chest cavity ribs were reportedly broken and he died on the spot.
“The matter was reported to police and the postmoterm results from Kasungu District Hospital established that death was due to severe loss of blood.
“The suspect will appear in court soon to answer murder charge,” said Kachikho.
Paul Banda hailed from Msungandeu village, Traditional Authority Lukwa and Yamikani Mlotha hails from Mphungu Village, Traditional Authority Lukwa both in Kasungu District
