The Department of Meteorology has said that tropical cyclone Alvaro no longer poses any threat to the country’s climate, following its loss of power in Madagascar.

According to a letter issued by the department, the storm does not pose any threat to Malawi’s climate but they have warned people that there is a risk of flooding in areas where heavy rains will continue to fall.

However, the department has said that it will continue to educate and inform Malawians about storms that may arise in India ocean so that they should save lives and property.

Cyclone Alvaro survived its crossing over southern Madagascar in the last 24 hours, and has now moved back over the Indian ocean off the country’s eastern coast.
