A 15year old boy identified as Sangulutsani Ngozo has died in a road accident on January 01, 2024 around 08:00hours at Ekwendeni area along Mzuzu Karonga M1 road.
The accident Involved a motor vehicle registration number MC 10419 Toyota Hilux double cabin pick up driven by Mr Edeni Matete of Chakoma Village Traditiomal Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi and a young male pedestrian Sangulutsani Ngozo (now deceased) .
On the stated date and time, Mr Edeni Mtete was driving from Endongolweni heading Ekwendeni trading centre along Mzuzu – Karonga road. As he was approaching Ekwendeni trading centre, he hit a young male pedestrian Sangulutsani Ngozo who was crossing the road from left to right.
Following the impact caused, the victim sustained fracture of the left leg and head injuries. He was then taken to Ekwendeni mission hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Motor vehicle registration number MC 10419 Toyota Hilux double cabin pick up had its left front fender depressed, left front lens broken and windscreen shattered.
Meanwhile Mr Matete (Driver) is in police custody and will appear before court soon after investigations to answer the case of causing death by reckless driving which is contrary to section 126 (4) (C) of road traffic act
Sangulutsani hailed from Mgulumu village Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba.
