In Lusaka, a 49-year-old woman is in a dispute with her 72-year-old husband for his refusal to allow her to groom his groin area, an act she sees as a demonstration of a responsible and loving wife.

She expressed distress before the Lusaka Boma Local Court, highlighting that her husband had withheld his HIV positive status from her and resisted using condoms during intimacy.

The husband, in response, claimed he disclosed his HIV status before their marriage and justified his reluctance for condom use due to health advice stating his inactive virus couldn’t transmit through unprotected sex.

He further cited her reluctance to pray with him as a Jehovah’s Witness as a significant issue in their marriage.

The wife accused him of neglecting their intimate life, indicating their last sexual encounter was in December 2022, with her husband offering no explanation for the prolonged abstinence.

Both parties appeared unsure about seeking reconciliation or divorce, prompting the court to adjourn the case for counseling and judgment, scheduled for January 4, 2024, as Magistrate Sylvia Kabunda recommended.
