
HRDC Urges MHRC Investigation into Electrocution of Standard 6 Learner in Lilongwe

HRDC, led by national coordinator Kelvin Chirwa, has urged the alawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the electrocution incident involving Blessings Nickson, a standard 6 student, in Namitete, Lilongwe, on November 27, 2023.
Expressing concern over the violation of the boy’s rights, HRDC emphasized Blessings’ current state of pain at the Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
The coalition called upon the MHRC to delve into the incident, discern any human rights infringements, ascertain liability for Blessings’ permanent incapacitation, and propose appropriate actions or sanctions as necessary.
