Police at Kanengo in Lilongwe are looking for unknown assailants who are alleged to have murdered an unknown man believed to be over 45 years old.
Kanengo Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Gresham Ngwira says, they received a report that the body of unknown man was found lying in a drain some 15 metres away from Kanengo-Nambuma earth road within Mzumazi 2 Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mtema in Lilongwe.
“Following the report, Police accompanied by a medical officer from Area 25 Health Centre visited the scene where they observed that the dead body had bruises on the back and right arm depicting violent marks of assault and postmortem singled out suffocation and severe pain secondary to assault as cause of death”, says Ngwira.
Ngwira added that, at the time of his fate, the man, slim and black in complexion, had a POP bandage on the left lower arm. Wearing a white short sleeved shirt with black and brown stripes having Chinese embroidery writings above left chest pocket, the man also put on black jean trousers and a brown leather belt with metal studs, among others.
He further said the dead body has been conveyed to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) mortuary and Police wish to ask all those whose relative is missing to report to Kanengo Police Station or go straight to the health facility for possible identification of the body.
