Information reaching this publication indicates that 13 employees of the State controlled Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) for allegedly taking part in the recent strike over salary discrepancies.
ESCOM management has accused the employees of using company property such as vehicles without authorization during the strike.
One of the fired employees is workers Union President Charity Harawa.
ESCOM workers went on national wide strike demanding a 44 percent salary hike to be at par with the 44 percent devaluation of the kwacha by the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM).
The workers invaded the street with company vehicles.
