A man aged 86 years old, identified as Mr. Sakaza, was found dead and in a decomposed state in the Lisungwi River in Neno district after going missing on January 2, 2024.
He left his home on that day to visit his wife, who resides in a nearby village, but never returned, prompting concern about his whereabouts.
The tragic discovery of Mr. Sakaza’s body floating in the river with a dismembered hand has deeply shocked the community.
The Neno Police Officer-in-Charge, Edwin Magalasi, confirmed the grim finding, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding Mr. Sakaza’s disappearance.
Postmortem results conducted by the Lisungwi medical team pointed to suffocation secondary to drowning as the cause of his death.
Mr. Sakaza hailed from Nelisani village in the area of Senior Chief Symon in the district.
