Former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe who is also member of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has denied claims that he is in talks with President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera ahead of the 2025 polls.
Recently social media was flooded with reports that Kabambe will be the runningmate of President Chakwera in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
The reports claimed that the two agreed this during meetings held between the month of November and December last year.
But reacting to this Kabambe described the reports as fake.
“I have never met President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and I have never discussed with him for a possible move to be his runningmate,” said Kabambe.
He added: “Ine ndi membala wa DPP ndipo ndikugwira ntchito ndi DPP, ndipo ndidzakhala wa DPP motsogozedwa ndi yemwe ndi mtsogoleri wachipanichi, His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika.
“Chipani cha DPP ndichipani chomwe chimayendetsedwa ndi nsanamila za chitukuko, chilungamo komanso chitetezo, chotelo izi ndi mfundo zothandiza kumanga democracy zomwe ndi mfundo zomwe ndimagwirizana nazo.”
