The law enforcers in Lilongwe have shot dead a suspected thief who was among 11 hardcore criminals terrorizing the city.
Lilongwe Police Spokesperson Hastings Chigalu has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the armed thieves attacked a security guard.
Chigalu also revealed that the law enforcers shot an injured one of the suspected thieves armed with panga knife.
He said the suspected thieves were on a mission to ransack Museco Seed Company on Sunday.
Chigalu said the thieves invaded the company and hacked two security guards who in retaliation shouted for help after sneaking out of the company premises.
The law enforcers rushed to the scene and engaged in running battles with the said suspected thieves who hired a lorry.
The law enforcers shot in the air to scare the suspected thieves and two stray bullets landed on the suspected thieves.
Two suspected thieves have since been arrested while one suspect is receiving treatment at the hospital.
