The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has said that the country on Tuesday experienced a national wide power cut.
ESCOM revealed this in a statement made available to this publication.
The state owned company attributed the loss of power to a system shutdown.
“The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited has experienced a system shutdown from 1:45pm today, 9th January 2024.
“We are yet to establish the cause of the system shutdown. We will inform the nation once all facts have been established,” reads part of the statement.
Meanwhile, ESCOM has started restoring power.
