Police inChiradzulu have arrested a 26-year-old female student of St. Joseph College of Health Science for presenting fake bank deposit slips for her tuition fees.
Spokesperson for Chiradzulu Police station, constable Cosmas Kagulo, has identified the student as Maureen Banda, who allegedly forged two National Bank deposit slips bearing K300,000 each as being paid into the college’s account.
According to Kagulo, On 8 January 2024,the suspect went into the college’s accounts office with two deposit slips bearing two different dates to clear her school fees.
Having presented the deposit slips, it was noted that the two were almost similar and that the first slip dated January 6, 2023 seemed original though fake.
Whereas the second slip dated January 6, 2024 was an exact copy of the first one only that it was overwritten by changing figures and dates which prompted the management to report the matter to Nguludi Police Unit.
The diploma in nursing and midwifery student has since been charged with forgery and uttering forceful documents and will soon appear before court.
