Economics Association of Malawi president, Betchani Tchereni, has been appointed Secretary to the Treasury, replacing MacDonald Mafuta Mwale.
This follows Mwale’s return to the Reserve Bank of Malawi, this time as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank.
Until his appointment Tchereni was working as the executive dean of the School of Business and Economic Sciences at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Science (Mubas).
The office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has confirmed of the development.
Tchereni’s appointment is with immediate effect.
