The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has confirmed the arrest of a 39-year-old man, Yona Ernest, for allegedly producing fake admission letters to deceive job seekers last year.
Yona impersonated a police officer from the MPS headquarters in Lilongwe, according to National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya.
Together with Constable Chipezayani Chadza, Yona is accused of collecting K1.9 million from the individuals seeking employment within the police service.
Charged with theft, Yona is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face the legal consequences of his alleged involvement in the scam.
