A 31-year-old Lecturer at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) Yapikachi Msiska Kambala has died in a fatal road accident that occurred at Mapanga, Limbe in the City of Blantyre.
The accident happened yesterday morning.
Limbe Police Station Aubrey Singanyama confirmed of the accident in an interview with the press, saying Kambala was driving a Mazda Axela, registration number NA 8725 and lost control due to excessive speeding.
This led to uncontrollable swerving and crashed into an oncoming Toyota Hilux registered 53 SC 36 which was being driven by Yotamu Mbale.
“The casualties were referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and Kambala died upon arrival, while Mbale is being treated as an outpatient,” said Singanyama.
Burial is scheduled for today.
