Malawian talented musicians, Eli Njuchi and Driemo are the artists that have pocketed highest amount of money in blank media levy royalties from Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) after carting home K5 million each.
Presidential Advisor on Youths and Arts Lucius Banda presented the cheque to the artists yesterday at an event which was held at Crossroads hotel in Lilongwe.
Skeffa Chimoto and Gibo Pearson are the second highest paid artist after receiving K4 million each.
Zeze Kingston, Wikise, Namadingo, Janta, Lucius Banda and Kell Kay have gone away with K3 million while the Great Angels Choir, Zonke, Malinga Mafia, Dan Lu, Azizi, Jay Jay Cee and Rashley received K2 million.
Ace Jizzy, Bee jay, Gwamba, Waxy Kay, Guntolah, Henry Czar, DNA, Billy Kaunda, the Black Missionaries, Avokado, Hilco, Ketura, Moses Makawa, Nesnes and Joseph Nkasa have been honored with K1 million each.
The Society has used K505 Million to honour the artists under blank media levy royalties.
Cosoma is an organization which was established in 1992 following the enactment of the Copyright Act of 1989.
