Police in Balaka have arrested two people in connection with a murder and robbery incident that happened on January 10 at Soma village in the district.

Balaka police public relations officer Gladson M’bumpha has identified the suspects as Precious Salamba aged 21, and Enock Tonto Wonderford 20 years-old.

During the incident, two grandmothers, 80-year-old Gerald M’manjamwada and his wife, Ireen Nankhanga, 75, were murdered.

M’bumpha says after investigations that have led to the arrest of the two, police have recovered 15 iron sheets, a solar panel, assorted clothes, one radio, a bicycle, and plasma TV screens, among other property suspected to have been stolen.
