Poice in Lilongwe have arrested a 40 year-old man for allegedly being found in possession cannabis sativa locally known as Chamba with permit.
Assistant Public Relations Officer for Lilongwe Police Station Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa has identified the suspect as Justin Sitima who was arrested on 18 January 2024.
On the stated date at around 09:00 hours detectives at Chitsime Police Unit received information that the suspect was in possession of a 50 kilogram bag of cannabis sativa (Indian Hemp) at Katete Bus Stage waiting for transportation to Salima.
Sanyiwa said that after a follow-up, the law enforcers found the suspect with the bag full of loose cannabis sativa and police immediately arrested him.
The suspect will be taken to court to face a charge of Found in Possession of Cannabis Sativa Without a License.
