Mulanje based side, Fomo Football Club on Sunday played their lungs out to beat FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve 2-0 in the first leg of the Southern Region Thumbs Up League at Esperanza ground in Mulanje district.
Two second half goals from Happy Phiri and James Msowoya were enough for Fomo to clinch the much-wanted home victory.
Speaking in the post-match interview, head coach for Fomo, Mapopa Msukwa praised his charges for the fighting spirit that they showed and promised to finish the game in the second leg.
Meanwhile, the junior peoples team head coach, Enos Chatama said his players failed to play their passing football because the pitch was wet and muddy but they will try to prepare well to turn the tables in the second leg.
Bullets reach the semifinals after Football Association of Malawi (FAM) through its Disciplinary Committee awarded them a 2-0 over Zingwangwa United as they were found guilty for fielding suspended players.
The second leg is scheduled for this coming Wednesday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre and the winner will face Mtopwa, who are already in the final.
