A pre-poll survey by think-tank says the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Karonga north constituency, Mungasulwa Mwambande is set to the 2025 parliamentary elections in the area.
According to the said survey, Mwambande could secure 68.9% of the total valid votes polled, while while his longtime rival who is also a former legislator for the area, Vincent Ghambi may be behind with 22.1%, Agabas Mwang’onda is poised to secure 6.47% and Lenzo Kiyombo with 2.53℅ of the vote share.
A senior member of the group who vehemently denied to be mentioned as they are yet to release the results, attributed the election results to Mwambande’s behavior and number of development projects done in the constituency.
“It is too early to talk to the media. This was international funded survey and we need to give them a report before our next step. So just wait,” said the senior member of the group.
It is said that the survey was for all constituencies in the country including the new demarcated.
The aim of the survey is to allow all candidates to know their weaknesses and strengths on the ground.
Think-tank believe that candidates will pull up their socks especially if they want to win the elections.
Reacting to the development in a phone interview, Mwambande who said is yet to read the report said it is his wish to retain the seat.
He said his secret is to do what the constituents want and take them as their bosses always.
Mwang’onde and Ghambi are yet to issue a comment as effort to get them proved futile.
