Lilongwe City Council (LCC) Law Enforcement Division has embarked on an of demolishing illegal structures and shacks along the M1 Road in the city as one way of keeping the city clean.
LCC through its team demolished shops along the M1 road from 6 miles to M1 Centre point within the city of Lilongwe.
Speaking on behalf of the Law Enforcement Division, Officer-In Charge Inspector Allan Domingo said the exercise was done to ensure that there is cleanliness and sanity within the City.
“Over 100 shacks and other illegal structures were demolished during the exercise”, said Domingo.
However, Lilongwe City Council has reminded all residents in the city that if anyone  found erecting these unwanted shacks and other illegal structures will be arrested and be brought to book for violating the City Bylaw.
