Following the situation where a Presidential motorcade was blocked by some angry Mourners from Ndirande area in Blantyre, Police says they have arrested two people in connection to the incident.
According to a Police report we have seen, Assistant Superintendent Mervis Matikanya of Blantyre Police Investigation department reported that on 19th January 2024 a group of people who were on funeral procession from Ndirande, Golio to HHI cemetery block President Lazarus Chakwera’s Convoy when he was on his way to Chileka airport.
Police say following the incident they have now arrested a 48 year old Pearson Chimimba a driver of Nissan,registration number ZA 5906 and also Hector Ndawala aged 38 who threw stones at the Convoy.
Chimimba comes from Magola village,T/A Njoromole in Ntcheu district while Ndawala comes from Katundu Village T/A Chimaliro in Thyolo district.
Meanwhile Police say investigations are still underway to arrest other suspects.
