Police at Jenda in Mzimba district have arrested two men father and his son identified as Moses Phiri aged 29 who is suspected to have stolen cash amounting to K11 million from the manager of Joel Traders at Jenda Trading centre.
According to Mcfaren Mseteka Jenda police publicist, Phiri is suspected to have commited the crime on January 22, 2024 at Jenda section 2C.
Mseteka said on the night of January 22, Phiri broke into the house of Lontia Manda manager Joel Traders and stole 11 million kwacha.
Following the incident, police instituted an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect who upon being questioned on the whereabouts of the cash led police to his father’s house in Kasungu where a sum of 10 million kwacha was found hidden in a plastic bag in a maize field.
Meanwhile police have also arrested the suspect’s father father Felson Phiri aged 54, and the two will soon appear before court.
