Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) are involved in a dispute over allegations of match fixing in the CRFA league.
CRFA has suspended league matches for three weeks now, after allegations that there was match fixing which between Ngolowindo FC and Namitete Zitha FC.
On 23 January 2024 FAM issued a statement ordering CRFA to organise the match between Kawinga FC and Namitete Zitha FC on Saturday or Sunday at the Nankhaka stadium. or Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
However, CRFA wrote to FAM yesterday that the match between Kawinga FC and Namitete Zitha will not be played as scheduled by the local governing body because they did not ask FAM to intervene in the matter but they were just giving them a node about the ongoing allegations among the three teams.
Meanwhile, FAM has issued another statement, stating that the letter which CRFA sent to them which was signed by the association Chairman, Austin Biton, lacks authentication and the position of FAM in fixing the game between Kawinga and St. Gabriel Zitha remains the same.
Kawinga FC is at the top of the summit in the CRFA league with 50 points and Namitete Zitha is in second place with 47 points and they both have one game left to play.
