Kawinga football club have been promoted to the TNM Super league after defeating St Gabriel Zitha 4-1 at Nankhaka Stadium on Sunday to win the Central Region Chipiku League.

Rahim Mtondera scored a brace, with Razarus Chirwa and Imran Awali scoring the other goals while Kondwani Nyirenda scored Zitha’s consolation.

The win for Kawinga means they have earned a top flight  promotion after finishing top of the league with 53 points while Zitha are second with 47 points.

The final match between the two teams was delayed after allegations that there was match fixing which between Ngolowindo FC and Namitete Zitha FC in which the Central Region Football Association suspended has suspended the teams and all involved individuals with different punishments.

Kawinga FC will join Baka City of Karonga as the rookies in the Malawi’s elite league while the Southern region side will be represented by either FOMO or Ntopwa as the two teams will play in the final.
