The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has accused Mulanje Central Member of Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa of clinging to the office of the leader of opposition in Parliament.
The opposition DPP expelled Nankhumwa from the party together with Grezelder Jeffrey, Cecilia Chazama, Mark Botomani and Mwanza Central MP Nicholas Dausi.
After the firing, the opposition DPP also replaced Nankhumwa with Dr. George Chaponda as leader of opposition in Parliament.
But reports indicate that Nankhumwa is yet handover the keys, vehicle and other things to the newly appointed leader of opposition.
Speaking in an interview with the press DPP Spokesperson Honourable Shadric Namalomba MP has described what is happening in relation to Kondwani Nankhumwa clinging to the Leader of Opposition office as “Kicks of a dying horse”.
“Nankhumwa was expelled from the party and, automatically, he ceased to benefit from any party benefits. He was the Leader of Opposition because he was a member of the DPP which has numeric strength in Parliament and what has happened is [that] we have expelled him from the party and he ceases to be Leader of Opposition the moment he was expelled”.
“The injunction they are talking about has nothing to do with the present matter. These are just kicks of a dying horse and the horse is now dead; you will see,” Said Namalomba.
Effort to talk to Nankhumwa proved futile.
