Police in Ntcheu on Monday arrested a hospital attendant at Ntcheu District Hospital, Andrea Chikanga, 37, for being found in possession of medical drugs without license.

Ntcheu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Inspector Jacob Khembo said Chikanga was found with one bottle of paracetamol in his laptop bag while knocking off from his work place.

When quizzed, Chikanga failed to give a good account of the said medical drugs.

“Upon seeing that he had failed to express himself on how he got the drugs, police officers conducted a search at his house where they found and seized assorted medical drugs,” said Khembo.

The seized drugs include one bottle of amoxicillin, two bottles of ibuprofen, eight boxes of diclofenac, five boxes of ciprofloxacin, 10 cannulas, one diclofenac sodium, one carton of gloves, one lidocaine injection, four water for injection and 20 syringes.

Chikanga, who hails from Chidongo Village, Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu, will appear in court soon to answer the charge of being found in possession of government medical drugs without license.
