In Lilongwe, the police have arrested a 30-year-old Emmanuel Jonah, who is suspected to have orchestrated and executed a plan to steal items worth K229 million, including 61 motorcycles and 84 pieces of clothing.

Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu revealed that Jonah had been hiding for two months.

Jonah was apprehended yesterday at Luwani Estate in Neno District, where he had been hiding. Chigalu also mentioned that the police will investigate a 30-year-old woman, Lilian Manda from Area 49, who is suspected to be an accomplice, receiving and selling stolen items from Jonah.

The police have recovered 17 motorcycles out of the 61 stolen.

Both will appear before court soon.

Emmanuel Jonah hails from the village of Kampira under the leadership of Chief Mbenje in Nsanje, while Lilian Manda is from the village of Chongole under the leadership of Chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota.
