An angry mob  at Mapwesela Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo have assaulted to death two men on suspicion they stole assorted household items from Frank Mahara from the same district.

Spokesperson for Thyolo Police,Spokesperson for Thyolo Police Sergeant Rabecca Kashot Sergeant Rabecca Kashoti has confirmed the incident and indtified the deceased as Chimwemwe Kaura and James.

According to Kashoti  Police received report of murder of the two from Officer-in-Charge at Goliati Police Unit and said the incident occurred at night on February 7, 2024.

“A suspect revealed that he and other two accomplices broke into Mahara’s house on February 1, 2024 at night”, Said Kashoti.

Thyolo Police publicist added that the suspect also revealed the whereabouts of his two accomplices.

It is reported that relatives of Mahara organised themselves and went to Kapita Village, Traditional Authority Likoswe in Chiradzulo district where they apprehended the two.

“Instead of handling them over to police, they took them over to Mapwesela Village where they assaulted them to death,” she added.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the two are at Thyolo mortuary awaiting postmortem, and investigations are still in progress to arrest the perpetrators involved in the mob.
