Silver Strikers have appointed former Flames defender Peter Mponda as the team’s head coach on a one-year performance-based contract.
The central bankers announced the arrival of the former Black Leopards head coach through their official website.
Speaking to Silver Strikers media after signing the contact, Mponda said he is excited to start a new chapter with the area 47 based side and look forward to taking up a new challenge.
“I am glad to take up the role of being the team’s head coach and I feel this is my time to register my abilities with the team. The new role comes with pressure as any other job but to defeat the pressure we have to work hard and I believe we will do so and be successful. I cannot wait to meet the technical team to set the ball rolling”, Mponda said.
Meanwhile Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said the club is delighted to make the appointment and start preparations for the new season and has since pledged all the necessary support to the new gaffer to succeed.
“We are glad today to announce Mponda as our head coach going forward and we believe that he is the perfect fit for our club and what we believe in. Silver Strikers will provide all the necessary available resources for him to make headway and succeed in his position”, he said
The 42-year-old who is a holder of CAF B coaching license has replaced Dutch coach Pieter de Jongh, who left the club on mutual agreement following a trophyless 2023 season.
