Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) members of Parliament have blocked an entrance to Parliament until they meet the Speaker of Parliament and be addressed on what is going on.
Addressing the media, Mulanje Bale MP, Victor Musowa said if the Speaker chooses not to address them, they will camp at the entrance of the Parliament building until their request is met.
Said Musowa: “We are going to camp here until the Speaker addresses us. She can come here or we can meet her in any office she feels safe. Or else we will be here until night and we will leave our vehicles here.”
The barred DPP MPs have gathered outside the Parliament entrance in a caucus where they are probably mapping the way forward.
Their vehicles have been parked in such a manner that they are blocking the entrance and all other MPs are being forced to use the other entrance, usually used by the Speaker, the President and Cabinet Ministers.
Meanwhile, the MPs led by Chimwemwe Chipungu are preparing food outside parliament building.
