Dowa Police Spokesperson Alice Sitima has confirmed the incident, stating that a lorry loaded with bags of charcoal was involved.
Two people have tragically lost their lives, while 13 others sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The driver, Lyson Mwale, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn into a drain.
The accident occurred at Nchinga Village along the Salima-Lilongwe road in Dowa District.
Those with minor injuries received outpatient treatment at Dowa District Hospital.
