Police in Chikwawa have arrested a man allegedly found in possession of medical drugs without a permit.

The suspect, identified as Supedi Chindiwo, 35, of Penumulungu Village, Traditional Authority Mlolo in Nsanje District, was apprehended on February 18, 2024, following an intelligence-driven operation by officers from Chikwawa Police Station, conducted under the Criminal Investigation Department at Mitondo trading center.

Chindiwo was found with assorted medical drugs, including 1750 tablets of LA, 1200 of bufen, 1670 of Ciprocin, 1637 of paracetamol, 1163 of Amoxicillin, 1650 of indocin, 500 tablets of tricozole, and others. When questioned, he failed to account for the drugs and was subsequently arrested.

The seized drugs are currently being arranged for scrutiny by medical officials.

Chikwawa Police commend the public for providing tips that led to the arrest of criminals and the recovery of stolen items, urging them to continue assisting law enforcement.

Chindiwo will soon appear in court to face charges of possession of medical drugs without a permit.
