Information reaching this publication indicates that Ministry of Education Science and Technology has recruited and promoted 9,753 secondary school teachers.
Out of 9,753 teachers, 2681 have been recruited, and 2259 have been promoted at Grades TI and TJ.
Furthermore, 3,997 teachers have been promoted as senior teachers or heads of department grade TH, 316 teachers to the position of heads of department grade TG, and 500 as head teachers grade TG.
Ministry of Education spokesperson, Mphatso Mkuonera has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.
Mkuonera said this is part of the government’s plan to address some of the challenges facing the education sector, such as the shortage of teachers in the country’s public schools.
The Ministry has also released the names of candidates who have been selected to undergo the 19th cohort of a two-year Initial Teacher Primary Education IPTE-19 training program.
