Authorities have resorted to importation of 70,000metric tons of sugar to stabilize current erratic supply, ministry of trade spokesperson Mayeso Msokera has disclosed.
The decision follows engagements with sugar producers which revealed that the commodity is scarce due to rising demand.
At least ten import licenses have been issued for big traders to bring sugar.
