Three men in Lilongwe have been sentenced to 13 years imprisonment with hard labor for robbery after stealing items worth K6 million.

Lilongwe police deputy spokesperson Khumbo Sanyiwa stated that police prosecutor Richard Kandeya informed the court that the convicts tied a guard at a warehouse on April 16, 2023, before breaking in.

The stolen items included 38 bags of soya beans weighing 50 kilograms each, 11 Humber bicycles, and 2 batteries.

Despite the theft, police were able to recover 26 bags of soya bean seeds and two Humber bicycles from the convicts.

The convicts, identified as Mike Nkhoma, 27, Synate Kachingwe, 39, and Maganizo aged 25, were found guilty of endangering lives and property in the area.
