Balaka district Community policing coordinator Robert Njalammano has singled out lack of parental care one of the factors contributing to high numbers of street-connected children on the streets of Malawi.

Njalammano made the remarks when Andiamo Youth Trust was celebrating the 6th international day of education on the theme: ‘promoting education for peace and development’.

According to Njalam’mano, most of the street-connected children are on the streets due to poverty and a lack of parental care, which he said is pathetic.

“If parents took good care of their children, street-connected children would no longer be found on the country’s Streets”, Said Njalamano.

Commenting on the matter, c  has said there is a need for different stakeholders to work together in taking care of the children by providing necessities including education.

Andiamo youth Trust is operating in Balaka district, under Tigawane Family, in providing care to the street-connected children.
