The National Executive Committee of the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has endorsed President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as the party’s torchbearer in the 2025 polls.
The committee endorsed this during NEC meeting held yesterday at MCP headquarters in the capital Lilongwe and meeting was presided over by President Chakwera.
MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka confirmed of the development in an interview with the press after the meeting.
Mkaka said that other people who want to challenge President Chakwera are free to do so.
Meanwhile, the party did not disclose the exact date as to when it will hold its elective conference.
