Nyokase Florence Madise, a veteran journalist and broadcaster, was laid to rest at her home village Mkhulu, Traditional Authority Mthwalo in Mzimba yesterday.
Madise passed away on Monday night in Mzuzu after collapsing at home and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Madise, who worked with Malawi Broadcasting Corporation from 1964 to 1994, was the second woman to be employed by the media house when it began and the first Malawian woman to be trained by BBC radio.
Madise’s contributions to journalism and broadcasting in Malawi were celebrated by colleagues and the community during her funeral service.
