The Malawi Police Service has dismissed two police officers who were working at Thyolo Police for indiscipline and unauthorized absence from duty.

The two have been identified as Constable Chikumbutso Maluwa and Constable Davie Mataya.

This has been confirmed in a letter signed by Maxton Kalimanjira, Deputy Director of Human Resources and Management for the Service.

According to Kalimanjira, the two officers committed two counts of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline, leaving the post without authority.

It is said that the two together with unnamed officer left their posts to look for food after President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy passed by on January 15, 2023, heading to Chilembwe Day celebrations in Chiradzulu.
