Malawian youths are on the right path to become innovators of tomorrow for the entire world if the innovations displayed by the Malawi university of business and applied sciences ( MUBAS) students are to go by Ahunna Eziakonwa who is assistant secretary general and Africa regional director of united nations development programme ( UNDP).
Made the sentiments at Chileka international airport shortly before her departure after attending the official launch of the university innovation POD( UNIPOD) among other engagements during her visit in the country.
Eziakonwa stated that she is filled with hope to see young students talking with confidence about what they can do with their machines and technology which they have invented.
“The level of confidence which i saw today gives hope,you have what it takes and you can export your ideas and innovations and earn from it”. said Eziakonwa.
She further express satisfaction with the measures which has been put in place to protect the innovations.
“We don’t want the space of innovation which has start off to be another extractive industry, whereby young people slave, got the idea to innovate and it goes out because they don’t have the licence or the protection around it”. Eziakonwa said.
The assistant UNDP top official also express satisfaction to see that the university is opening up to others outside MUBAS to showcase their innovations at the university innovation POD( UNIPOD).
The United Nations Development Programme partnered with Mubas to establish the multi million dollars facility.
