The Phalombe First Grade Magistrate Court has released on bail a member of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), who was earlier arrested by police for allegedly inciting violence.

The DPP member, Tiaone Hendele, was arrested Monday morning after handing herself to the Phalombe police station.

Her arrest follows a viral video clip on March 2, 2024, where she is allegedly seen urging people in her area to incite violence.

In his ruling, Magistrate Leonard Fletcher Mtosa ordered the suspect to pay K100,000 cash and that one surety should pay K500,000 in non-cash bail bonds.

Mtosa says the suspect should also report to Mulanje police station twice a month.
