A South African state witness in the extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary admitted in court that an audit report by KPMG last year revealed that the Bushiri’s did not benefit from the R106 million they are accused of stealing.

The witness Sibongile Mnzinyathi made the admission during cross-examination by defence lawyer Wapona Kita yesterday.

Kita informed the court that the audit which was done in March 2023 cleared the Bushiris of having laundered the money.

According to the report findings, a company called Rising Estate Limited was behind the alleged scheme.

The extradition case is scheduled to continue today in Lilongwe.
