Police in Chileka, Blantyre have arrested three suspects on burglary and theft charges and have recovered items worth 17.5 million in the process.

According to Chileka police station public relations officer Jonathan Phillipo on March 7, 2024 the three broke into the house of a 40-year-old Escort Chinula who works for Nyasa Manufacturing Company.

“The suspects managed to go away with a Samsung Plasma TV, a tablet phone, Ps5 (Sony Playstation 5), Smartphone and other items, all valued at K17.5 million.

“Through the intelligence driven operation by the CID team on March 8, 2024 we managed to impound a Motor vehicle Registration number ZA 1663 which the criminals were using when committing the crimes,” he said.

The suspects have since been identified as Criton Kapinja (40), Oscar kamuna (45) and Sinoden Khuleya (39).

Both Criton and Kamuna hail from Mwachande village village T/A Machinjiri in Blanytre while Sinoden Khuleya comes from Senzani Village T/A Phambala in Ntcheu.
