Well-known socialite Tamia Ja, whose real name is Hannah Jabes has been granted bail after spending days in police cell.
Jabes was arrested on grounds that she dubbed a businessman money amounting to MK8 million, according to Lingazi Police spokesperson Cassim Manda.
“I can confirm that we have arrested Hannah Jabes, aka Tamia Ja, over theft allegations.
“She was arrested a few days ago after our officers received a complaint from a certain businessperson that Tamia Ja allegedly defrauded him of his K8, 000,000 after he mistakenly sent the cash to her account, which he wanted to send to someone,” Manda said.
According to Manda, at first, the suspect acknowledged receipt of the money and told the complainant that she was travelling to South Africa and would do the transactions when she gets back.
Manda said, after that, Jabes started showing perverse behavior by not being willing to send back the money until her arrest.
