President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is today scheduled to leave the country for Zambia to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organ Troika and SADC Troika in Lusaka.

The trip comes barely two days after the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) announced a 3 percent devaluation of the kwacha.

According to the statement, the plane carrying President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is expected to depart at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) at 2pm.

The summit is aimed at promoting peace and unity among SADC countries, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique by deploying troops under SADC countries along with those under UN to help in establishing peace.

The SADC mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC) and the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) are on the main agenda.

The Summit will be chaired by the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, in his capacity as Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation.
