The fifth edition of the three-day Easter Theatre Festival driven by Solomonic Peacocks starts today at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.

McArthur Matukuta, the Festival Coordinator who is also the Solomonic Peacocks Director said they are ready for the festival.

The Festival Director said, everything is in place and they have worked so hard putting it together and now it’s time to give people maximum entertainment.

He added that there performances as well as workshops .The festival will bring on board acts from close to 12 countries.

The official opening of the ceremony is this afternoon there will be a lot of performance such as ballet and poetry by Baba Ngoni and Sylvester Kalizang’oma.

The other performance will come from poet Yona Mlakatuli,storyteller Tadja Nkhonjera ,comedian Ching’aning’ani and drama from Alex Theatre from Lilongwe in Malawi.

There will also be a workshop and performances from schools.

The festival is very special in a way that it will also run together with 25th anniversary celebration of Solomonic Peacocks.

Mutukuta said, there is more that people will see. There have acts from Germany, Portugal, South Africa and eSwatini. Local acts have also been rehearsing.

The theme of the festival is ‘your talent matters, create, inspire, enjoy towards 2063.

The French Embassy to South Africa,Lesotho and Malawi has also supported French theater group Compagne Du Hasard.
